NC student body chief sees king in Prachanda

Chairman of the Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) Pradip Poudel today accused Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of trying to become a new king.

Speaking at a press meet in Damauli, Poudel saidJustify Full, “The CPN-Maoist is trying to impose autocracy, but it is unacceptable to the NSU. Prachanda is trying to become a new king without the crown.” “The Nepalis, who have taught a good lesson to the crowned king, will not tolerate a king without the crown,” he said.

“This government will not last long because ideas and working style of Prachanda and former king Gyanendra are similar,” he said. “The government will collapse in six months if the Maoists do not mend their ways.” “Maoist leaders are talking about establishing a People’s Republic. This is not acceptable to the Nepalis,” he said, terming the CPN-UML a “puppet” of the CPN-Maoist.

The NSU will stage protests if Maoist leader continue to impose their ideology on the uneducated people, he said.

“The People’s Liberation Army personnel should be dedoctrinated if they are to be integrated into the Nepal Army,” he said.

The NSU chief said the Nepali Congress should play the role of an active opposition. “The CA members, elected by the people in order to frame a new constitution, are doing noting except drawing their salaries and allowances.” He said the NSU will mount pressure for the formation of new Nepal.

Poudel said a programme titled ‘NSU in schools’ had been launched in schools with a view to institutionalising peace, democracy and republic. Another programme targeting youths aged between 20 and 30 years will also be launched soon, he said.
