माओवादी सेनालाई राष्ट्रिय सेनामा समायोजन गर्न नहुने : कैनी
नेपाली काङ्ग्रेसका केन्द्रीय सदस्य एंव पूर्व राज्यमन्त्री अमरराज कैनीले शिविरमा रहेका माओवादी सेनालाई राष्ट्रिय सेनामा समायोजन गर्न नहुने बताउनुभएको छ । जनआन्दोलनका सर्वोच्च कमाण्डर एंव लौहपुरुष गणेशमान सिंहको ९४ औ जन्मजयन्तीको अवसरमा आज दमौलीमा आयोजित कार्यक्रममा उहाँले सो कुरा बताउनुभएको हो । उहाँले कुनै पनि दलको लडाकुलाई सेनामा समायोजन गर्न नमिल्ने बताउनुभएको हो । उहाँले माओवादी लडाकुलाई सेनामा समायाजन गर्नु भनेको लोकतान्त्रिक मुल्य र मान्यता विपरित भएको बताउनुभयो । उहाँले गणेशमान सिंहले कहिल्यै पनि पद र पैसाको लागि सत्ता प्राप्तिका पछाडी नलागेको उल्लेख गर्दै उहाँले प्रजातन्त्रवादी र साम्यवादीहरुको एकताको गणेशमान सिंहको नीतिलार्इ काँग्रेस सभापति गिरिजाप्रसाद कोइरालाले उग्रबामपन्थी पार्टी माओवादीलाई पनि लोकतान्त्रिक धारमा ल्याएर फलिभूत गर्नुभएको उल्लेख गर्नुभयो । सो अवसरमा काङ्ग्रेसका कार्यकर्ता तथा विभिन्न क्षेत्रका व्यक्तिहरुले गणेशमान सिंहको प्रतिमामा मार्ल्यापण गर्नुभएको थियो ।

शिक्षकद्धारा विद्यार्थीमाथी हातपात
सदरमुकाम दमौलीमा अवस्थित रामज्योती सेकेन्डरी बोर्डीङ्ग स्कुलमा कक्षा ७ मा अध्ययनरत एक विद्यार्थीलाई उक्त विद्यालयका शिक्षकले कुटपिट गरेका छन् ।
व्यास १० दमौलीका १२ बर्षीय नविन बिष्टलाई शिक्षक सन्तोष अधिकारीले कुटपिट गरेका थिए । विद्यार्थी कुटपिटको विषयलाई लिएर विद्यालयमा अविभावक, विद्यालय प्रशासन, मानवअधिकारकर्मी र पत्रकारको छलफलले कुटपिटको घटनामा शिक्षक अधिकारीको गम्भिर गल्ती भएको निश्कर्षनिकाल्दै अवको दिनमा यस्ता क्रियाकलाप नगर्न सुझाव दिएको छ । साथै विद्यालयका प्रिन्सिपल सहदेव अधिकारीले अवका दिनमा यस्ता घटना कहिल्यै नदोहोरिने प्रतिबद्धता व्यक्त गर्नु भयो ।

Caste row separates newly-wed
Two days into marriage, Krishna Bishwokarma (19) of Jamune-9, Tanahun district, has been forced to separate from his newly-wed wife Sajani Shrestha (17) of Jamune-1.
Sajani was apparently disappeared by her parents, who were against the inter-caste marriage, yesterday afternoon. The duo had tied the nuptial knot as per the Hindu tradition in Akala temple near Tharpu. The groom's family was present at the wedding.
"We were heading to Sajani's home after her mother said her family would accept our marriage. On the way, about 20 men seized Sajani from Dumrebazaar and took her to an unidentified location. She has gone missing ever since," said Krishna. He said they were in love for two years.
Feeling insecure, Krishna has been living in his relative's house in Markechowk in Abukhaireni VDC. Krishna said he had been receiving death threats after Sajani's abduction. "Talking over phone, Sajani's relatives have threatened to kill me," Krishna said. However, Sajani's maternal uncle said Sajani hadn't married anyone. "This is just a rumour," he added.

Tanahun's Chepangs go green-fingered
All 21 households of the indigenous Chepang community in Chhimkeshwari VDC3 of Tanahun district have turned to growing vegetables and Amliso grass (broomstalks) for their livelihood.
Fifteen Chepang households in Kholagaon and six others in Rasauli are engaged in vegetable and Amliso cultivation and they have become economically self-reliant by selling off their produce.
This became possible after the District Development Committee (DDC), Tanahun, provided assistance for the cultivation of seasonal and off-season vegetables, Amliso grass and beekeeping as a means of poverty alleviation in Chepang settlements.
An official at the DDC Local Development Fund said the assistance has been provided to make Chepang people economically self-reliant.
It is learnt that the Chepangs have also constituted the Chhimkeshwari Small Farmers Community Association and started saving money. One hundred and five Chepang families in that village are earning their livelihood through vegetable and Amliso cultivation. Inspired by them, Chepangs elsewhere are shedding their reticence of new ways of life.
